Procession Towards the Unknown

Procession Towards the Unknown is a Cairo-based improvisation ensemble that seeks to push music to the outer edge.

Procession Towards the Unknown (PTTU) is the child of vocalist Sammy Sayed and includes a shifting array of musicians. Improvisation based journeys typically last three hours, entering trance-like states. Among the musicians who have played with Procession Towards the Unknown include Sam Shalabi (Land of Kush), Alan Bishop (Sun City Girls), Cherif El-Masri, Aya Hemeda and Adham Zidan (The Invisible Hands), Graca Carvahlo (Indignu), among many others.

After seeing Procession live, I created the following monogram and showed it to Sayed. He liked it and adopted it as the band’s logo. I have since created a number of artworks to promote individual Procession Towards the Unknown events.

Here’s a caption style for an embedded image in WordPress.

The mark is a composite monogram, set in the style of a vintage font. It is custom designed.

Below are some examples of event flyers I have created for PTTU.
